4 ways that yoga can help cure life's problems

If you know yoga personally you must be thinking, "Everyone needs yoga!" Of course, I agree 100%. But jumping into something new always has questions. "Is this right for me?" "Will this help me?" "Am I just wasting my time?" But let me stop you there. The first thing with yoga...well one first thing...is to just breathe. If this is meant for you this is why it came into your life.

Lets look at few ways yoga can help anyone, that maybe you didn't even think of.

True Blue Happiness- Depression and Anxiety Be Gone!

Coming from someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, let me tell you! Depression and anxiety comes about in many different ways but mostly its worrying or feeling lack in the past or future. Yoga keeps you grounded, living in the present moment. Being thankful for all you have and going from there. The more you stay present the more your depression and anxiety flit away. With breathing practices and asanas (poses), the present moment is always with you. It is hard to concentrate on your breath or body without being fully aware. Of course I am not telling you to skip therapy and medications ( I surely am not skipping any of that[more about my healing journey in a different article]) but what I am telling you is with a combination of yoga you WILL feel a difference.

Healing the Aches and Pains

You might be here because it hurts to get out of bed in the morning and your doctor recommended yoga or just stretching in general. The more you move the less likely you will have those aches and pains. Just like the old(?) saying, "Use it or lose it." Even if the pain comes from an injury, yoga can help. With a doctors permission and recommendation yoga can be beneficial just like physical therapy. And I may be biased but it is way more fun!

Gym Goers Are Actually Able to Touch Their Toes!

This one is a new goal of mine. To bring yoga and stretching into gyms. As a personal trainer I have seen soooo many people with great physique but are not able to touch their toes...let alone their knees! What is the point of having a "dream" body if it doesn't move to optimal levels? The answer to all of this is to stretch. I only know a handful of people that stretch after a workout. I am going to use my mother as an example (sorry mom). She likes to lift the heavy weights and I think she makes it look easy, but you bring her to a yoga class and she says she can't keep up. I tell her all the time, if you do your stretches you really could keep up and then some. So if you want a body that is in tip top shape, start stretching, start doing yoga.

Manifesting the Body That You Desire

Now this little tip is kind of piggy backing on the last one. You don't need a gym to get a healthy body. Starting on your mat is a start to your bodies health. I like to tell all my students that this is their practice, I am only here to suggest. So take the practice at your own pace and you will start to see differences in your strength and stamina.

It Doesn't Stop There...

Yoga is an amazing practice! Not only does it help with the points above but surely helps with life in general. Yoga isn't just asanas or postures. It is really a way of life. Living in the present moment and learning about who you are; body mind and spirit. If you want to know how yoga can affect your life please don't hesitate to ask or book a session with me. I know for certain you can gain in life with yoga.
